Full ceramic crowns /bridges reinforced with lithium disilicate (e.max)

Crowns, being a processable glass-ceramic material reinforced with lithium disilicate, can be used in inlays, onlays, anterior or posterior single crown restorations and some 3-member bridges. Lithium disilicate crowns are aesthetic materials with high light transmission. It is one of the successful materials preferred today due to its resistant structure, successful optical properties, and it requires minor tooth abrasion when compared to some other materials. Lithium disilicate crowns are produced from ceramic blocks with different colours, opacity and transparency.

Zirconia (Zirconium) Crowns/Bridges

Zirconia is a polycrystalline ceramic material that is not found in a free state in nature. Zirconium Oxide (ZrO 2) ceramic is used in dentistry. Zirconia ceramics do not create grey reflections on the gums due to their white infrastructure. It is a material with high durability, but its light transmission is lower than lithium disilicate reinforced ceramics. Zirconia ceramics can be used to restore single-tooth crowns, restoration of over-implant crowns or bridge prostheses. Still, metal-supported porcelain bridge prostheses with higher resistance are preferred to restore longer bridgeworks for increased tooth loss.
